Verbal Judo Part 1: Understanding and Managing Difficult Personalities
Friday, March 13   1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
209 A/B   Anaheim Convention Center
Block: 3    Session: 3-09

Verbal Judo is about teaching people to speak and act professionally under pressure and during conflict. As store professionals more often are being asked to interact on campus and be active participants in activities outside the store, these skills are increasingly important to your success. In this Part 1 session, you will learn about the "Three Personalities" prevalent in U.S. society, and to develop a "habit of mind" for more effectively interacting with and managing resistent minds and difficult personalities. You'll leave with tips on what NOT to say when trying to reduce conflict and resolve problems. And, most importantly, you'll gain a five-step approach for generating voluntary compliance.

Verbal Judo Parts 1 and 2 are stand-alone sessions—you may attend one or both. However, a more complete knowledge of the Verbal Judo skills will be gained by attending both Part 1 and Part 2.
